Review of Energy - A Balanced Future

We sent 2 of our team to Newcastle for the NOF Energy Conference, read Katie's review here:

On the 8th and 9th of March 2016 I attended the NOF Energy Conference and Exhibition - ‘a balanced future 2016’ - with our Business Development Manager, Jason Hilton.

The conference and exhibition is designed to assist businesses firm up their position in the energy supply chain, spotlight their products and services, innovative technologies and solutions to an industry specific audience.  The venue was the Sage Gateshead, which is a lovely space and perfect for the event. I was very impressed with the NOF Energy team who were always available and on hand throughout the event.

Day one - Set up and Networking.

Energy a balanced future

We arrived around lunchtime on Tuesday to set up our stand ahead of the evening networking reception. This was a great opportunity to start meeting some new faces and introducing ourselves and the company. It was a relaxed atmosphere with food dishes from around the world being served. There was a good variety from traditional English fish and chips to Mexican burritos.  Excellent entertainment was provided by an all-female barbershop and harmony group, the ‘Shoeshop’, who were performing around the exhibition floor throughout the evening.

Day two - Exhibition and Conference

On Wednesday morning we had an early start at 7:30am. The conference talks started from 9am with guest speakers from the industry presenting various subject matters ranging from the current position of the UK and international energy industry through to the UK onshore and offshore gas industry. I was able to sit in on a few of the talks, such as ‘Efficiency and Effectiveness of Oil and Gas Supply Chains in Today's Environment’ by Mark Richardson at Apache North Sea, all of which were very positive. Throughout the day there were regular breaks for brunch and afternoon refreshments which were well received, especially the butterscotch biscuits.

It was attended by hundreds of energy sector supply chain companies, with the aim of finding out what’s happening in the energy sector, gaining a strategic outlook, finding out about business development opportunities and to meeting new customers. For myself being new to the industry it was very good experience, getting to meet people from different sectors within the industry whilst keeping up to date with the latest industry news.

As a business we obtained a number of leads to follow up and I would definitely recommend the event if you supply in to the various Energy sectors.
