As an Investors in People accredited business we are great believers in providing opportunities to young talent, and a huge fan of the Apprenticeship Scheme.
As part of National Apprenticeship Week we wanted to share the experience of our current Warehousing & Logistics apprentice, Conor.
“After leaving school I was keen to step into the working world. I wanted to find something that would allow me to learn and develop skills in a more practical working environment.”
Conor found Zoedale through the Bedford College Apprenticeship website. He started his apprenticeship with us in October 2015 and works 4½ days per week as part of the warehouse team, attending Bedford College for one afternoon a week for Functional Maths and English skills.
As a key part of the team here at Zoedale, Conor contributes daily towards the smooth running of the warehouse, ensuring that goods are received and dispatched efficiently. He also works on manual builds, assembling valve and actuator packages. As well as dispatching goods to lots of different countries, Conor works closely with his mentor as well as spending time with our service engineer to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business and industry. Our warehouse manager Jezz is pleased with the progress Conor has made so far throughout his Apprenticeship scheme and commented that he ‘is a fast learner and shows enthusiasm towards all task he is given’.
“I really enjoy working at Zoedale, I have gained a variety of skills which have helped me to become more organised and responsible. I find that my work keeps me focused and driven to succeed. Thank you to Zoedale for giving me the opportunity to be part of the National Apprenticeship Scheme. A special ‘thank you’ to my mentor and warehouse manager, Jezz, for passing on his wealth of knowledge and skills. I would highly recommend an apprenticeship to anyone.”
Conor is the third apprentice we've had at Zoedale and we firmly believe it's a great way for young people to learn a trade whilst in a paid working environment.
